It Feels Good to Make Pixel Art Again

Discovering NeoCities and the rest of the Web Revival/personal web has inspired so much nostalgia and creative energy in me. When I was designing websites in my teens, I was deeply engaged in the pixel art and dolling community. By browsing new sites and connecting with old ones, I’ve since rediscovered some of my old sources of inspiration, such as Kawaii Hannah and Bitmap Dreams.

Browsing their galleries feels like wandering in a candy store; everything is so colorful and cute! I can’t help but save a piece here and there to add to my personal collection, which I’ve made a page for here: Toy Box. I’ve since reinstalled Aseprite and started making my own adoptable pixel art as well as the self portrait on this site’s index! In the future, I plan to make icons to replace the default Bootstrap ones and perhaps some custom emojis too. I hope y’all enjoy them, and, please, save something for your own site on your way out!
