Number of Days with a Cold: 15

Thankfully, this has been more of a sniffle-and-runny-nose kinda cold and not a cough-and-fever kinda cold. It’s been more annoying than anything else. I seem to be on the mend now and no longer need to forcefully choke down any more DayQuil. (Yuck.) What is the flavor of DayQuil supposed to be anyway? It’s orange in color but tastes like peppermint??

Number of Thanksgiving Dinners I Attended in 2025: 3

This Thanksgiving, I met my boyfriend’s family and he met mine! Very cordial, very pleasant, and only the normal amount of social awkwardness. It was pretty funny that our family dinners had completely different vibes. His: energy of a calm, elegant cocktail party. Mine: energy of a line cook kitchen station during peak dinner hours. All in all though, I think they were pretty successful first meetings!

And the third Thanksgiving was a Friendsgiving dinner earlier this month! I was in charge of making the turkey, which I'd never done before, but it came out perfectly!

Number of Books I’m Actively Reading: 3

  • The Case Files of Jeweler Richard (Light Novel), Vol. 8: One of my favorite series for a cozy read! Low stakes, gem-related plots and an ace/demi-coded relationship between the two MCs. (Think: life partner, not lover.) Highly recommended.
  • Ascendance of a Bookworm, Part 1, Vol. 3: I picked up this light novel series as an easy bedtime read to fall asleep to. It started out as a comfy, fantasy isekai plot about a girl’s pursuit of books. By volume 3, it’s a bleak picture of social classism/feudalism. I’m not even kidding. It’s DARK. Like, life or death dark. To be clear, the series itself is not bad; it’s just not the kind of thing I want to read before bed. To be honest, I probably won’t continue this series once I’m done with this volume. I just can't imagine when I'll ever be in the mood for this kind of story.
  • I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom by Jason Pargin. Jason Pargin runs one of my favorite social media accounts. Lots of humor mixed with weird or thought-provoking information. I got a copy of this book on Kindle for free from the author’s giveaway promotion, but because Amazon is gross, I later bought it from Kobo. I just started, but it’s been a fun read so far!

Number of “Stamps” in My New Junk Journal: 9

This year, I genuinely tried to make journaling a habit after listening to an NPR podcast about it, but I just couldn’t stick to it, which made me sad because my journal itself is so cute. I’ve seen a few IG posts featuring junk journals, and since I’ve got a glue stick and a thrifted circle paper punch, I figured I’d give it a try. I think I’ll need to get a square punch if I keep doing this, but I’m happy with how it looks so far!
