Weekend in New Mexico

Posted on: 2025.10.15 // Tagged: personal

I’m writing this post from 30,000 ft in the sky!

That is, I’m currently on the plane ride home after spending last weekend on a trip to New Mexico with some friends. We spent three days visiting both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and since pictures tell a thousand words, here are some of my favorites from my trip:

an open air plaza

We spent the first day exploring Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque. A tourist destination, surely, but it was a nice spot to spend an afternoon wandering, shopping, and eating. I picked up some souvenirs for my boyfriend as well as a handmade, pear-scented bar soap for myself. (I adore handmade soaps.)

I spotted these cute skeletons while waiting in line at a cafe to get a (very purple!) prickly pear soda.

The next day, in Santa Fe, my friend and I went to the local farmers market for breakfast. We shared an herb-crusted flatbread while exploring the different stalls. It was one of the best market venues I’ve ever been to, and the air was so fragrant with the smell of roasted hatch chiles. Further down the road was an artisan market with yarn (!!), pottery, jewelry, and paintings.

A significant part of the second day was spent holding Danmei/Light Novel Book Club with my friend in various locations in downtown Santa Fe. (We discussed Volume 2 of The Apothecary Diaries!) Afterward, we checked out a comic and game shop and spent the rest of the afternoon crocheting at local bookstore/cafe. In the evening, we met up with our other friends for an excellent BBQ dinner and few games of billiards.

surreal hallway in Meow Wolf exhibit

The highlight of our last day was visiting Meow Wolf in Santa Fe. It’s an immersive art exhibit where a collective of artists contributed visual artwork, interior design/architecture, music, writing, and performance to tell a story about the residents of a very unusual house. Imagine a fusion of a haunted house (with no scares), a playground, and a trippy art gallery. It was a cool experience. Definitely would recommend!

Thanks for a great weekend, New Mexico!
